Merry Christmas! The Hampton's had a great Christmas Eve with a beautiful midnight mass, then a wonderful Christmas day! It is always fun to watch the faces of the kids as they open their presents! This year was no exception! Ella has even gotten really excited about opening presents and playing with all of her new toys. Pictures and video will follow soon!

Lastly, my mom and I took the boys ice skating for the first time tonight. They had alot of fun and we may have some potential hockey players on our hands! Eli had completely gotten he hang of it and was off into the middle of the rink within 20 minutes. Sam took a little longer to warm up to it, but eventually made it around the entire rink by himself (granted it wasn't that big). While they enjoyed it, so did the adults! We got some great video and pics of them wobbling and falling. Heee-larious!

The true meaning of Christmas

As Advent ends and Christmas starts, it is important to remember the true meaning of the season. The 2008 Hampton Bowl Bowl...Let the games begin!

The Hampton Bowl Bowl officially begins today! Every year my family makes a competition out of the NCAA college football bowl games. We pick a team for each game and whoever picks the most winners in the end wins. What do you win, you ask? The joy of bragging rights for the rest of the year. And trust me this is a pretty big thing for our family. It's tradition.

So, how do you pick the winning teams every year? Let me start by saying I've only won once...and it felt good. In order to pick a winning team I research everything; coaches, players, stats, etc. It's a long drawn out process that takes a few days. JUST KIDDING! I usually pick teams by colors, mascots, favorites, or by letting my nephews pick my teams.

And this year is no exception. I think it took me all of 3 minutes to make my bowl selections. And in comparing my picks to the rest of my family I will either win big or lose big. What's new?

Today is my dad's 62nd birthday! I know he reads this, so I wanted to let him know that I love him and I hope he has a great birthday! He is the best dad in the world and my hero! Happy birthday dad!

It's still December, right?

So Christmas is a week from tomorrow. Christmas carols have been playing since like August...okay just since Thanksgiving. Lights, blow-up Santa's and tacky lawn decorations are up on the houses. There are Christmas parties every weekend to attend. So, it should feel like Christmas (or Advent, for us Catholics), right? BUT it's 70 degrees outside. I don't know about you, but I have a really hard time getting into the spirit of the season with this weather. However, knowing how fickle Georgia weather is, it may be snowing next week. One good thing for me is I get to ride with the top down on my new car. Woohoo!

Caffeine...I NEED CAFFEINE!

So yesterday was my first day sans caffeine. Let me just say it was not a good day. I never got the "withdraw" headache, but I was sluggish all day long. I was miserable! And I think some of the patients and my co-workers could tell. So, I've decided that I'm not ready to give up the caffeine just yet...let's just say I'm doing this for the good of all mankind and also for my own sanity.
Sweet tea here I come!

Why "Being Beebs"...

So I guess I should explain the title of this blog. When my first nephew was born in 2002 I had come up with the name Bebe as a name to be called because I thought Beth would be too hard to say. My aunt Debbie was called Weebie when I was growing up because my brother couldn't say her name. I thought I would go ahead and pick a name I liked. However, my nephew had his own ideas. He called me Bebe for a while, but one day he started calling me "my Beebs" and it stuck. So now everyone in my family calls me Beebs. Long explanation for a little story, but it's my blog and I can post pretty much whatever I want, right? :)

Our Annual Girl's Weekend

We had a great weekend on our annual "girl's trip". This year we went to Ellijay, Ga. But don't confuse Ellijay with Elijay. :) Friday night we were all a little worn out but we enjoyed dinner together, played a little Wii bowling (Carol finally got the hang of it) and watched a very girly movie (27 Dresses). We woke up on Saturday renewed and ready to shop until we dropped!

But first we went to Amicalola Falls, which was gorgeous! The Lodge was decorated with all the usual Christmas decorations, plus the staff had made various gingerbread houses. Some of them were quite elaborate. Then we headed off to Dahlonega and walked around the square, had our picture taken with Santa and then finished with lunch at the Smith House. It was reliving a childhood memory for my mom and her sisters, but I had never eaten there before. It was soooo good! We then went to Dawsonville for a little outlet shopping. And just to let you know I am officially done with all of my Christmas shopping! On our way home we saw a sign for a live nativity in Dawsonville. After some trouble finding our way, we finally made it. It was a new experience for me and I enjoyed it even in the freezing weather. After 12 ours out and about we made it "home", put on our PJ's and watched another "girly" movie (P.S. I love you). Sunday we had a late breakfast and parted ways. I know we all had fun and have already started planning for next years trip!
